Welcome to the chicken coop!

Let me introduce you to...

Dolly

D.O.B.: February 2025
Breed: Australorp cross
Appearance:Jet black feathers, beautiful, green-blue feathers throughout. Black beak, red ears, and black feet.
Egg colour: Light brown. Dolly's eggs are usually the smallest. She doesn't know how to use the nesting box, or perhaps just was to sing to her own tune, so her eggs are always found underneath the nesting boxes.
Named after: Dolly Parton.
Fun fact: Dolly lives up to her name and has the biggest personality of the bunch. She is first in line when I bring their favourite treats, mealworms, pecking away at my hand at the speed of light! She is my shadow and follows me most curiously around the coop. She loves a good dust bath and sunbake.

Little Patty

D.O.B.: February 2025
Breed: ISA Brown
Appearance: Dark red-brown with lighter feathers around neck. Beige beak, red ears and light brown feet.
Eggs: Med-dark brown with brown specks. Medium sized.
Named after: Little Pattie, an Australian pop-singer from the 60's.
Fun fact: Patty loves to try jump out the coop when I come visit each morning because she is so excited for the food scraps I bring. She stands right by the door, which means often I have to brush her away gently with my foot.

Camilla

D.O.B.: February 2025
Breed: Leghorn cross
Appearance:White feathers, with the odd black or beige feather at random. White beak, white ears, and white feet.
Egg colour: White. Camilla's eggs are always the largest!
Named after: Camilla the chicken from The Muppets.
Fun fact: Camilla is quite a shy girl. She is skittish and quick to frighten. I don't try to pat her or pick her up often because of this. The other two usually get first pick at the scraps, so I awlays try to throw some to the back so Camilla can have her well deserved treats too.

Camilla laid this MASSIVE egg recently. I don't know if I can truly emphasies how monstrous this thing was. I would have bet money that it would turn out to be a double yolker, and as expected, it was! Very yummy breakfast, thank you Camilla!
