welcome to my bookshelf! ![]()
Reading has always been a big part of my life. I can't remember a time when I didn't read. Some of my favourite childhood books were "The Magic Faraway Tree" by Enid Blyton, "Rainbow Magic" by Shirley Barber, "Best Friends" by Jaqueline Wilson, "Black Beauty" by Anna Sewell, and the Baby-Sitters Little Sister spin-off series of the BSC.
More recent favourites include "Guards! Guards!" by Terry Pratchett, "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka, "Slaughterhouse 5" by Kurt Vonnegut, and the "Dark Crystal" YA series by J.M. Lee.
fun facts!
The highest amount of books I have ever read in a year was 56 in 2014.
The lowest amount of books I have ever read in a year (since beginning to track in 2013) is 13 in 2024. I was really going through some stuff that year, I really found it hard to do much of anything I loved.
I have read at least one Doctor Who novel every year since 2013, excluding only 2016 for some reason. Currently I'm on a 10 year streak, I have knocked out my book for 2026 early!
As spin off material that thus can't shake up the status quo, the Doctor Who books are mostly nothing spectacular. But I still really enjoy reading them. I liken reading them to eating comfort food, something warm and familiar. There's something nice about knowing that I've read ~40 of these things and yet I've still got an endless amount more in which to visit my old friends.
Here are some cool bookish pages!
